Gary Battensby

General Manager and Site Senior Executive, Bauxite Hills Operations

Gary is a senior mining professional with over 25 years experience in driving regulatory compliance and change in production, health and safety across various industries.

He has predominantly worked in the metalliferous mining segment across surface and underground mining.  Gary joined the team in 2022 brining a strong understanding of P&L’s, budget and expenditure management, Capex development and production costs including site operation and contractor cartage rate management.  He has project managed large site overhauls, upgrades and builds. His latest project was at Cape Flattery Silica, where he oversaw a $250M upgrade of the site, taking production from 2M to 2.9M per year.

In addition, Gary has also worked with shipping and ports authorities dealing with scheduling and costs. In previous roles, he has run crews of up to 350 staff with multiple site managers reporting to him.
