Douglas Ritchie

Independent Non-Executive Chair

Mr Ritchie has over 40 years’ experience in the resources industry having worked for Rio Tinto for 27 years. Mr Ritchie was a member of Rio Tinto’s Executive Committee and the Group Executive responsible for China. During Mr Ritchie’s vast career with Rio Tinto, he held positions as Managing Director of Rio’s Dampier Salt Ltd, Rio’s Head of Business Evaluation, Managing Director of Rio Tinto Diamonds, Chief Executive of Rio Tinto Coal Australia, Rio’s Managing Director of Strategy, Chief Executive of the Energy Product Group and Group Executive Strategy and also served as Chair of the Rio Tinto Staff Superannuation Fund.

Mr Ritchie retired in 2013 and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He was formerly a Director of the Queensland Resources Council.
